The Blog Has Moved
I have a new web host so I’ve moved the blog to have more control. Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out how to move all the posts here, so I’m starting fresh. The new blog can be found by clicking here. Thanks for visiting.
The Performer
This is from a new series on performers in San Francisco. It started with the cast of Abigail, now the cast of the Shadow Circus Creature Theater. I’m hoping to do a number of burlesque performers in San Francisco and some more bands. When I get to about 50 shots I like, it’s time to look for a show.
This is Angelique X. Stacy from the Shadow Circus. She plays drums, washboard, theramin and probably a few more instruments, sings, and puppets. (I wish I knew what word to use for that.) She has a band or two and dances. If you’re in San Francisco, you should definitely come out and see her.
Lady Satan
Lady Satan is a terrific performer in San Francisco. She’s just starting a (dirty) comedy career to add to her quite successful burlesque career. You can catch her at a lot of shows around San Francisco – this was last night at the Shadow Circus Creature Theatre show. For those of you that haven’t seen the Shadow Circus, they’re a lot more entertaining than Ringling Bros, especially if you prefer dinosaurs to tigers.
Headshot
I was asked to do the headshots for the performers in Abigail, an original rock opera about the Salem witch trials that will open in San Francisco in spring of 2010. I was asked specifically for high key and serious – no teeth or smiles, no color, and washed out faces. I shot them in the studio during a rehearsal. This is one of the singers, I don’t remember his name but will update this post when I find out.
Nothing Like a Fun Party
I love it when I can make something look like something it isn’t. I mean a drunk guy under the table, very cool, but it’s Larry Santy, also known as Gutter, down there trying to fix the smoke machine. Larry works incredibly hard to make everything come off right in Live Evil’s show, right down to crawling around on the floor.
The Nekro Festival
Nekro Festival was a goth/metal show in Oakland, held in a warehouse in Oakland. I think it used to be an opera house or something like that. Promoter Death Boy did a terrific job getting some great bands out, it was fun because everyone was dressed for the show, and the music was terrific. Hopefully it will happen again next year. Here’s a photo of Death Boy.

Helios Creed
Helios Creed played last night at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. If you live in San Francisco and haven’t visited this venue, you have missed out. It’s a beautiful old hall and the acoustics are terrific. Helios was the main event, my friends Galaxxy Chamber opened for him. Helios (and his band Chrome) have been around for a long time, the music is spacey psychedelic stuff based around the weird stuff he pumps out of his guitar.

More From the Fair
I’m still going through the photos from the Folsom Street Fair. This year, I carried a Blurb book I printed with photos from prior fairs and showed it to people so they could see what I do. This woman recognized herself in a photo in the book (I didn’t until she pointed it out) and then posed.

Dottie Lux
If you live in San Francisco, you should know about Dottie Lux. Dottie runs the only weekly burlesque show in San Francisco, Friday nights at El Rio, where she often performs in clown makeup. It’s really difficult to take a bad photo of Dottie, something about her makes her always look good on camera. This photo was taken recently just after one of her El Rio shows.
